To be able to wear a custom made piece of jewlery is something really special to me. Walt is a truly talented artist, and in the process of making this beautiful piece, was very appreciative and receptive to the way I had envisioned the details of the earring. In doing so, the outcome exceeded my expectations! So for anyone out there looking for some very special custom made pieces of jewlery, I highly recommend him. In ancient times, jewlery had a profoundly sacred meaning in relationship to the "medicines" or the protective spirits that every human being was gifted with. This is how I relate to anything I wear. Walt was able to "capture" some lightning "medicine" in the spark of this beautiful earring. You can feel there is sacredness in the way he works! Enjoy !

I am speechless. . . . both involuntarily and deliberately! I got the package in a lull at school late this afternoon. . .and closed the office door . . .and opened things. . . one. . .by. . .one!! Read your letter... If I tried to say how heartstoppinly beautiful and unique, meaningful and transformed everything is. . . I would fail.
So, I just decided to be quiet for now...and absorb everything more and write you after I have HOURS to pore over each piece, in the sunlight of at home!
Bur, I am already wearing the little silver ring as a toering after all ...and the pave silver ring...and the cz ring...and the big cuff bracelet (will that one be my favorite?!!...or the gold ring?...or the sweep of silver across the pale flate green stone that looks like animals and bodies dancing against the wind...?!?!)

'Old Sheffield Plate' has always been my love! The Great Estates of this area had many of these wonderful antique pieces but some needed minor or major repairs to preserve for posterity. Walter could and can always accept the challenge and restore the pieces with pride to their original condition.
When his store closes in Akron, Ohio a part of Akron will be gone forever no more Arizona Mining Company but the respect for him and his family for their dedication and commitment to the community will never be forgotten by his firends and/or customers. To know him is to love him!

I collect inkwells and antique writing instruments. I met Walt Ruch about 20 years ago at his jewelry store here in Akron, Ohio (Arizona Mining Company) asking if he may be able to fix some broken hinges on a couple of my inkwells. Presto--superbly repaired!
That was the beginning of a long history of repair and restoration I've enjoyed while working with Walt. As my collecting hopy expanded to include selling antiques (inkwells being a main focus, but including a large variety of metal items) at antique malls in Medina and Ravenna, Ohio, my trips to Walt became more frequent.
And my complete satisfaction and delight with his workmanship expanded with each new challenge. Most of the metal pieces I brought to him had broken or missing parts. Each time I would come to pick up the repaired pieces, I couldn't wait to see the transformations! Little hands, feet, antlers, or minute details restored to return the pieces to their original glory, or even better. He can do the impossible!
Selfishly, I'm sad to see Walt leave, You can be sure I'll still be mailing items to Calinfornia for repair, but I'll miss the personal interaction.
It's rare to find someone so skilled and so pleasant. I'm sure and future cliences will enjoy the best results.

Having been in the antique business for the better part of the last 60 years. It is with ease that I highly recommend the repair work of Walter Rush. I have been fortunate to use his expertise skills for the past 25 years. Walter is skilled at repairing many antique items, from sterling and silverplated teapots, flateware and strving pieces to jewelry and most anything in the metal area. He has also done an excellet job in restringing necklaces such as pearls and beads and is very qualified to convert earrings.
As Walter moves out of State, I am happy for him and his family in the next phase of their lives. However, we plan on sending items his way for contined repair work.
